I came home last night to find the
Spring 2011 issue of Culture Magazine in my mailbox, which I am proud to say has my article on converting a mini-refrigerator into a cheese cave by adding an external thermostat control. The article is not online, but you can check it out in the magazine by flipping to the the "Can-do" section.
It's online now:

Hi David,
ReplyDeleteI read your article and it was very timely for me, as I'm trying to figure out what can be the best "cave" for my Brooklyn, NYC apartment. Do you think there is a better option between the wine coolers vs. dorm-style fridge + thermostat?
What worries me most is that my apartment doesn't have AC and it can get in the high 80's for much of July. I'm thinking perhaps a wine cooler won't be able to cool against that kind of weather, whereas the fridge will. Do you have any advice for me? It would be much, much appreciated!
Thanks,

If the wine refrigerator is a good one, it should be able to keep the temperature near 55F, even at in an 80F apartment! Same goes for the dorm style fridge. Just use an accurate thermometer to confirm it is doing its job.
